How to Trade on Roblox (2026): The Complete Guide to Limited Items, Roblox Plus, Fees, and Avoiding Scams
Quick Summary
  • Trading on Roblox lets you swap Limited and Limited U items with other players, but the rules changed significantly in 2026.
  • Both players need to complete an age check, have Roblox Plus (or legacy Premium), and turn on trading in privacy settings.
  • Roblox Plus replaced Premium on April 30, 2026 and costs $4.99 per month. US players get 2 free trades per month for a limited time.
  • You can only trade Roblox-created Limited and Limited U items plus Robux. UGC Limiteds cannot be traded through the official Trade feature.
  • Robux added to a trade is charged a 30% fee and cannot exceed 50% of the value of the items you are offering.
  • Trades are final and cannot be reversed. Never trade outside the official Trade feature.
What You Can Trade on Roblox

The official Trade feature handles exactly two things: Limited avatar items made by Roblox, and Robux added to balance an offer. Nothing else goes through it.

A Limited is a collectible avatar item that was sold normally and then went off-sale. Once that happens, the only way to get one is to buy it from another player or trade for it. Roblox splits them into two kinds:
[th]Type[/th][th]How it was sold[/th][th]What makes it different[/th]
LimitedNormal sale, no strict copy limitBecomes collectible once it goes off-sale
Limited U (Limited Unique)A fixed number of copiesEvery copy has a serial number, like #45 of 100
The tag sits under the item picture on the Marketplace and on the item details page. To be certain, open the details page and check the Tradable field. Yes means it can go in a trade window.

UGC Limiteds made by community creators are not tradable through the official Trade feature. You can resell them on the Marketplace for Robux, but you cannot put them in a trade window. In-game items like Blox Fruits fruits, MM2 Godlys, and Adopt Me pets trade inside their own experiences under each developer's rules. They do not use the platform Trade feature or need Roblox Plus.

What You Need Before You Can Trade

Both players must meet all four requirements before they can send or receive a trade:
  1. Complete an age check. This is required for everyone, with or without Roblox Plus, and it applies to sending, accepting, and countering a trade.
  2. Have Roblox Plus or a legacy Premium subscription. Plus launched globally on April 30, 2026 at $4.99 per month and replaced Premium, which can no longer be bought. If you still have an old Premium subscription, it counts.
  3. Turn on trading and inventory visibility. Go to Account Settings, then Privacy and content restrictions, then Trading and inventory, and switch both on.
  4. Be in a supported region. Trading is currently not available in South Korea.
US players can make 2 free trades each month without Roblox Plus for a limited time. Those free trades reset at the start of each month. Once you have used them, you either subscribe to Plus for unlimited trades or wait for the reset. Roblox calls this a limited-time offer and has not announced an end date.

How to Make a Trade, Step by Step

Trading runs through the other player's profile page. Here is how it works:
  1. Open the other player's profile. Search their username, or open it from your friends list or a trading Discord link.
  2. Select the More button (the three dots) in the top-right corner of their profile box.
  3. Select Trade Items. If the option is missing, a requirement from the section above usually is not met. The common causes are the age check or trading being turned off in privacy settings.
  4. Build your offer. Under Your Offer, tick the items you are giving. Under Your Request, tick what you want back. The window shows a Total Value for each side so you can compare them.
  5. Optionally add Robux in the Plus Robux amount box. The fee and cap rules are covered in the next section.
  6. Select Make Offer. The other player gets a message and can accept, decline, or counter.
To check, accept, or counter trades, select Trade in the left menu on any Roblox page. Use the Trade Type dropdown to switch between Received, Sent, Completed, and Closed. When you open a received offer you can Accept it as it is, Decline it, or Counter. Countering lets you change the items and send your version back with Make Offer.

How the Robux Fee and Cap Work

Item-for-item trades have no fee. Robux is different. Two rules apply whenever Robux is in an offer:
  1. A 30% fee is taken from any Robux in a trade once the offer is accepted.
  2. The Robux you add cannot be more than 50% of the value of the items you are offering, measured after the fee.
Roblox's own example: if your item is worth 300 Robux, you can add up to 150 Robux after the fee. The fee comes off the Robux itself, so whatever you add, the other player receives 70% of it.
[th]Robux added to the trade[/th][th]Fee (30%)[/th][th]Robux the other player receives[/th]
1003070
1,000300700
5,0001,5003,500
That 30% is why experienced traders balance offers with a small extra item instead of Robux wherever they can. A Limited keeps its full value in the trade, while every Robux loses almost a third of its value on the way.

Trades are final. Once a trade is complete, it cannot be reversed, refunded, or disputed. Roblox will not undo it or return your items or Robux for any reason. Check every trade carefully before you accept.

How to Know If a Trade Is Fair

Roblox does not publish official item values. The Total Value in the trade window gives you a rough starting point, but serious traders check two more things:
  • Community value trackers. Rolimon's (rolimons.com) is the community-standard source for Limited values, projected items, and rare status. It covers platform Limiteds only, not in-game items. Its values are community estimates, not official prices.
  • Recent sales. On a Limited's details page, scroll to the resellers list under the price chart. This shows what people are actually paying right now, which can differ from the community value.
Roblox Trading Scams to Avoid

The trade window itself is safe. Everything around it is not. Here are the scams that catch new traders:
  • Fake middleman. Someone offers to hold both sides of a trade to make it safe. There is no official middleman system. If a trade leaves the trade window, there is no way back.
  • Send-first deals. Anyone who asks you to send your item first and trust them to send theirs is running a scam. The official Trade feature requires both sides to confirm simultaneously.
  • Phishing links. Scammers send links that look like Roblox login pages to steal your account. Never log in through a link someone sends you. Always go to roblox.com directly.
  • Account trading. Buying or selling Roblox accounts is against the Terms of Use. Roblox will not help you recover an account that was traded outside the system.
  • Real-world money trades. Trading items for real money, gift cards, or crypto is not protected by Roblox. If the other player breaks the deal, you have no recourse.
The Trade Quality Filter is a built-in safeguard that hides low-quality offers. You can set it in Account Settings under Privacy and content restrictions, then Trading and inventory. Choose Low, Medium, or High to set your minimum quality, or None to receive all offers. Setting the filter to Medium or High is a simple way for new traders to avoid obvious scam attempts.

FAQ

Can I trade on Roblox without Premium or Roblox Plus?
Only in the US, and only for now. Roblox is running a limited-time promotion that lets US users make 2 free trades each month without Roblox Plus. Outside the US, you need Plus or a legacy Premium subscription to trade at all.

Can I trade UGC Limited items?
No. UGC Limiteds made by community creators cannot go in the official trade window. You can resell them on the Marketplace for Robux, but you cannot trade them directly with another player through the Trade feature.

How much does Roblox take from trades?
Nothing on item-for-item trades. If Robux is included, Roblox takes 30% of it, and the Robux cannot exceed 50% of the value of the items you are offering, measured after the fee.

Can a Roblox trade be reversed?
No. Roblox says completed trades are final and cannot be reversed, refunded, or disputed. Check everything before you accept, and never trade outside the official Trade feature.

What is the difference between Limited and Limited U?
A Limited was sold normally with no strict copy limit, then went off-sale. A Limited U was sold in a fixed number of copies, and every copy has a unique serial number. Both are tradable, but Limited U items are often more collectible because the supply is known exactly.

Where can I check if a trade is fair?
Rolimon's (rolimons.com) is the community-standard source for Limited values. You can also check the resellers list on an item's details page to see recent sales. Remember that these are community estimates, not official prices.
