Rainbow Friends Complete Guide (October 2026): All 6 Monsters, Box Rules, and How to Survive
Quick Summary
  • Rainbow Friends is a Roblox horror experience by Roy and Charcle, first released on 30 June 2022, with a second chapter on 2 June 2023.
  • The game has passed 5.1 billion visits and holds about 3.89 million favorites, with a Roblox maturity label of Mild for fear and violence.
  • Chapter 1 runs five nights and Chapter 2 runs five hours. Each one is a collection round, a cutscene, and one more monster let loose.
  • Six monsters appear across the two chapters: Blue, Green, Orange, Purple, Yellow, and Cyan. Red is the figure who sends you in.
  • The Box is your main defence, but it only fools Blue, Yellow, and Orange. Green and Purple kill you inside it, and Cyan inspects it if you move.
What Rainbow Friends Is and Why It Still Pulls a Crowd
Rainbow Friends starts with a field trip that goes wrong. Your bus is turned away from the amusement park Odd World, crashes, and you wake up inside an abandoned entertainment facility called Hemlock Woods. A figure called the Scientist sets you to work retrieving items, and the Rainbow Friends hunt you while you do it.

The official Roblox page lists the experience under Adventure with a Story subgenre, a server size of 50, and a maturity label of Mild for Fear (Repeated/Mild) and Violence (Repeated/Mild). The page credits the animations to krefix and shows a last update of 29 May 2026.

The numbers are what make this worth writing about. Rolimon's records 5,154,440,914 visits, 1,541,189 upvotes against 304,101 downvotes (83.52%), 3,891,682 favorites, and an average session of 6.71 minutes. The all-time concurrent peak was 383,945 on 2 June 2023, and the game still pulled 6,003 concurrent players in the 24 hours before that reading.

Chapter 1: Five Nights
Chapter 1 is built around Hemlock Woods and plays out over five nights. Each night is a collection objective, and each one ends with a cutscene that adds a monster.
  • Night 1: collect 24 blocks and rebuild the block tower in the theater. Only Blue is active, so a Box keeps you safe for the whole night.
  • Night 2: collect 15 food packs to fill the food dispensers. Green walks in at the end of Night 1 and joins Blue from here on.
  • Night 3: collect 14 fuses for the machine in the theater. The machine overloads and cuts the facility power. Orange starts his rampage.
  • Night 4: collect 9 batteries to power the backup generator and bring the lights back. You are handed flashlights to see in the dark.
  • Night 5: get to the cake in the party room without popping balloons and waking Blue, then push blocks to drop the path to the vent and get out.
Chapter 2: Five Hours
Chapter 2 moves you to Odd World and swaps nights for hours. It also adds the Technician, who teams up with you to escape.
  • Hour 1: collect 25 lightbulbs to switch on the SOS light. Blue and Green are released from a garage, and Yellow is introduced.
  • Hour 2: collect 15 gas canisters to fuel the battering ram. The ram breaks the garage door, 10 Lookies fly out, and the Technician wakes on top of Green's Drop Tower.
  • Hour 3: collect 10 Lookies to save the Technician. Cyan turns up in Odd World. Running out of time triggers a fireworks gag instead of an explosion.
  • Hour 4: collect 9 sugar packs to bake a cake for the Giant Looky so you can slip past it.
  • Hour 5: the finale runs through Orange's Cavern Coaster. Orange gets about seven seconds of screen time in Chapter 2, the least of any monster.
Every Monster and How to Deal With It
Blue is the first Rainbow Friend and the one you meet. He is a large royal blue creature with a yellow crown, long bulky arms, short stubby legs, pale drool at his mouth, and a white button where his left eye should be. In Chapter 1 his running speed is slower than yours. In Chapter 2 it matches yours. He is strong enough to knock down two doors in a single hit and to rip a player's head off.

Green is blind. The wiki quotes the game's own line on him: "No need to worry though, he's blind. How can he catch you if he can't see you?" He is the second monster introduced, arriving at the end of Night 1.

Orange is the third, first seen on Night 3 of Chapter 1. He is a short, scrawny, Baryonyx-like creature with bright orange skin, bulging eyes, and rows of sharp conical teeth. He never walks, only runs, and he runs faster than players. His food bowl drains over about one minute and forty seconds. Once it is empty he goes into a rampage that follows a fixed path marked by a glowing orange line and lasts around forty-five seconds. He can climb rock walls, which the other monsters cannot. Orange kills a player instantly on sight, without the usual two second grace period.

Purple is the fourth. Only the long arms, round glowing eyes, and jagged teeth are ever shown, and there is no body model in the game files. In Chapter 1 he hides in the vents, and you pass him by walking the small footprint path through the water. Step into the water carelessly and he snatches you at once. In Chapter 2 he waits in the fog of his lair, where he knows where you are at all times, even through walls, and he can find you inside a box.

Yellow is the fifth and first appears in Hour 2 of Chapter 2. He looks like a pterosaur, with a wedge-shaped head fanning into a three-pointed crest, sharp teeth, wing-like arms ending in two claws, and a metal propeller on his back. He walks slower than players but runs at the same speed. He carries players to his nest with his wings, which grip far better than his feet, then pecks and bites. He cannot fly on his own and needs the propeller. In Chapter 2 he is the only monster that does not kill you the moment he catches you, apart from the Minecart Chase.

Cyan appears only in Chapter 2 and is the only female Rainbow Friend. She is the one who inspects your box rather than ignoring it. If you move in her sight while she is checking it, she starts chasing you.

The Box: When It Saves You and When It Kills You
The Box is the core survival tool. On PC you press B. On mobile and tablet you tap the box symbol in the bottom left of the screen.

The rules are not the same for every monster, and getting this wrong is the main way people die:
  • Blue, Yellow, and Orange cannot detect you in a box, but they will still attack you if you climb into it after being caught. An exclamation mark appears above your box when that happens.
  • Green and Purple can kill you while you are hiding in a box.
  • Cyan is not convinced by a box. She walks over and inspects it if you move in her sight, and if you keep moving while she checks it, she chases you.
  • You cannot use the Box after Night 4. Night 5 is a chase, the button is removed, and pressing B does nothing.
A Numbered Plan for Your First Run
  1. Treat Night 1 as a free practice round. Only Blue is active, so a box makes you safe while you learn the map layout.
  2. Learn the sharp corner trick early. If Blue spots you, round a tight corner and open your box. He loses you quickly.
  3. Do not rely on the box against Green or Purple. Once Green arrives on Night 2, keep your distance instead of hiding.
  4. Watch Orange's food bowl. When the alarm sounds and the glowing line appears, get clear of the route or into a box well before he reaches you.
  5. In Purple's vent sections, stay on the footprint path and do not wade. The metallic thumping means he has moved, so listen for it before you commit.
  6. In Chapter 2, treat Yellow as the monster that carries you away rather than the one that kills on contact. Run for the corners and break free from his feet grip rather than his wings.
  7. On Hour 3, collect the Lookies fast. Missing the deadline does not end the run, but it costs you the clean ending.
FAQ
Q: Is Rainbow Friends suitable for younger players?
A: The official Roblox page labels it Mild for Fear (Repeated/Mild) and Violence (Repeated/Mild), which puts it at the lighter end of the horror genre on the platform.

Q: How many players can join a server?
A: The official Roblox page lists the server size at 50.

Q: How long does a run take?
A: Rolimon's records an average playtime of 6.71 minutes, which lines up with the short, chapter based structure rather than a long open session.

Q: Does the box work on every monster?
A: No. It works on Blue, Yellow, and Orange. Green and Purple can still kill you inside it, and Cyan inspects it if you move.

Q: What is Red?
A: Red is the Scientist, the figure who diverts the bus and sets your tasks. The wiki lists Red among the Rainbow Friends and uses the same character image for the unknown figure in the Chapter 1 gallery.

Q: Is there a Chapter 3?
A: The Rainbow Friends Wiki lists only Chapter 1 and Chapter 2. A fan project called "Rainbow Friends CHAPTER 3 fanmade" appears in the official page's recommendations, but it is a fan release rather than an official chapter.
