- Welcome to Bloxburg has been free to play since June 15, 2024. The old 25 Robux entry fee is gone, and the game still draws nine million monthly active players by the studio's own count.
- The 2026 Halloween event, Version 1.38.0, went live on October 8, 2026. It is the first Halloween event since 2024 to drop the Event Ticket system and pay money and Blockbux straight from activities.
- Fill the event progress bar to 100% and you get a free Ghost Patrol Cruiser plus the Halloween 2026 Trophy. That is the biggest single prize in the event.
- Version 1.39.0 on October 15 added 14 Gothic items and Ornate Garden Wallpaper. All of them are permanent additions.
- Version 1.40.0 on October 22 added the Mourning Manor prebuilt for $547,000. It is Halloween only, which makes it the one item here with a deadline.
Welcome to Bloxburg is a life simulation roleplay game. You build and decorate a house, take a job, drive around a town, level up skills like cooking and gardening, and mess around with friends. It started as a paid game and became the first paid experience on Roblox, charging 25 Robux to get in. That fee came off on June 15, 2024, and the game has been free to play since.
The numbers are still enormous for a game that is over a decade old. The official Bloxburg site lists 10 billion total sessions, 13 million favorites and 9 million monthly active users. The Roblox page itself shows 10.1 billion visits, 14,025,663 favorites and 12,687 players online at the time of writing, with servers capped at 12 players. Roblox rates it Minimal maturity, suitable for everyone, and it does not support voice chat.
Ownership has changed hands. Coffee Stain Studios bought Coeptus and his studio Shortcake AB along with the game for $100 million in January 2023, renaming the studio Coffee Stain Goteborg. Coffee Stain Group spun off from Embracer Group in December 2025. The game got a full map revamp on June 28, 2025 during a live event where a meteor hit Bloxburg.
The 2026 Halloween Event (Version 1.38.0)
The Halloween event went live on October 8, 2026. The official Bloxburg account announced it that morning: participate in Halloween activities to earn money and Blockbux, decorate your house with Halloween items, and complete the event to earn a trophy and a free car.
The headline change is that there are no event tickets this year. Earlier Halloween events used a dedicated ticket currency you collected by playing. Version 1.38.0 pays money and Blockbux directly from activities instead, and the wiki notes this is the first Halloween event since 2024 to drop the ticket system. That makes the event far easier to follow, because you play and you get paid.
How to play Ghost Patrol
Ghost Patrol is the main activity and the one that fills most of the progress bar. Start it at any Ghost Patrol station, which sit near each bus stop, or from your own plot if you own a Ghost Patrol Cruiser.
- Follow the arrow to an active paranormal area.
- Stop inside the highlighted circle and open the tool menu at the bottom of the screen.
- Pick the tool that matches the spirit's accessory. The three options are a witch hat, a top hat and sunglasses.
- Catch up to three spirits, then drive them to the Graveyard to release them.
Three minigames run in the area outlined in yellow in front of Bloxburg Town Hall. There is a two minute intermission between minigames and each round lasts three minutes. You can earn up to $4,500 by reaching your personal score out of 12, and up to $6,000 by reaching the group goal out of 36.
- Pumpkin Panic: catch pumpkins in your bucket before they hit the ground.
- Chromatic Chaos: find the tomb that matches the symbol on the center orb.
- Recipe Ritual: find the ingredients the magical book asks for and drop them in the cauldron.
The Daily Ghost and what it pays
For the 23 days leading up to October 31, 2026, a new ghost appears somewhere on the map every 24 hours. Each one talks to you and gives clues about its lost item and where to find it. Find the item and bring it back.
The payout depends on speed. Return the item within 24 hours of it appearing and you get $10,000. If you are late you get $2,500. On top of that you earn Blockbux based on how many ghosts you have helped in total.
- 1 ghost helped: B$50
- 5 ghosts helped: B$60
- 9 ghosts helped: B$65
- 13 ghosts helped: B$75
- 17 ghosts helped: B$85
- 20 ghosts helped: B$95
- All 23 ghosts helped: B$120
The event also has a store. The Halloween Event Store is a small stand in front of Plenty O' Pumpkins and Orchard with two NPCs who open the Halloween Event Hub. You buy Halloween items there with money and Blockbux, and purchased items go straight into your Build Mode inventory. The store menu can also be opened from the physical stand. Plenty O' Pumpkins and Orchard itself is a pumpkin and corn farm out in Greenfield Plains with a music venue, parking for 10 vehicles and Tom and the Beat Builders performing. Helen von Vlox's haunted mansion on the same site is where the Halloween Haunting Quest starts.
Bumble Bee's Bubble Tea, the food trailer near Bloxburg Town Hall, sells Pumpkin Boba Tea, which is limited to this event.
What the Event Pays in Total
The event progress bar lives in the Halloween Event 2026 menu and fills as you do Ghost Patrol and the seasonal minigames. At 100% you get the free Ghost Patrol Cruiser and the Halloween 2026 Trophy.
Community tracking puts the total money available from the event at roughly $500,000 for a full clear, and the Bloxburg Intel account estimated the progress bar takes about 10 hours of grinding. Treat those two numbers as community estimates rather than official figures, since the studio has not published a total.
Version 1.39.0: Gothic Items Are Permanent
Update 1.39.0 landed on October 15, 2026 with a set of Gothic items and one wallpaper. The studio stated that every item from this update stays in the game permanently, unlike the Halloween event items.
- Ordered Old Books
- Book of Lost Tales
- Gothic Wood Burning Stove
- Straw Broom
- Gothic Table Lamp
- Gothic Mushroom Lamp
- Gothic Torch
- Crescent Moon Lamp
- Moon Cycle Framed Poster
- Framed Butterfly
- Gothic Wall Mirror
- Cauldron Planter
- Gothic Nightstand
- Gothic Goblet
Version 1.40.0: Mourning Manor Prebuilt
Update 1.40.0 went live on October 22, 2026, yesterday at the time of writing. It added the Mourning Manor prebuilt, built by a creator called Morrfui, with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. It costs $547,000 in the prebuilt catalog and is only available during Halloween.
That is a lot of in-game money, but the Halloween event is the fastest way to get it right now, since the daily ghost alone pays $10,000 per ghost. The same update also added a badge for completing the Halloween event, which is separate from the trophy.
Earning Money Outside the Event
Bloxburg has 14 jobs, excluding custom player-made jobs: Cashier at BFF, Delivery Person, Fast Food Worker, Fisherman, Hairdresser, Janitor, Mechanic, Miner, Pizza Baker, Seller, Stocker, Taxi Driver, Teacher and Woodcutter.
Pay is not tied to a specific job. It comes from your Total Work Experience level, which goes up to 100, and from your efficiency, which can reach 100%. Efficiency is 70% how fast you do the tasks and 30% your mood, so a bad mood genuinely costs you money. Each job has its own level up to 10, and reaching level 10 in one job gives you the Excellence Award. Total Work Experience level 100 gives you the Work Experience Trophy.
The game's 10th anniversary update, Version 1.29.0 in July 2026, ran a roughly 40 to 50% increase to all job earnings for a set period, July 31 to August 7. If another boost appears, it will show up the same way, as a status effect.

How many jobs does Bloxburg have?
14, not counting custom jobs made by players.
