Quick Summary
  • Roblox hit a platform-wide record of 47.4 million concurrent users in August 2025, smashing its own July 2025 mark of 32.69 million.
  • Grow a Garden held the single-game record at roughly 22.3 million concurrent players until Steal a Brainrot passed it.
  • Steal a Brainrot became the second Roblox game to cross 20 million concurrent users and peaked around 25.4 million in October 2025.
  • The rivalry carried both games past Fortnite's all-time concurrency record of 15.3 million.
  • Roblox itself reported 111.8 million daily active users in Q2 2025, up 41 percent year over year.[3]
How the 47.4 million record happened

On August 23, 2025, the two biggest games on Roblox ran competing events at the same time. Steal a Brainrot developer SpyderSammy and Grow a Garden developer Jandel staged a mock "admin war" between their communities. Players picked a side and piled in.

Grow a Garden reached at least 22.3 million concurrent players.[2] Steal a Brainrot became the second Roblox game ever to pass 20 million concurrent users.[2] Together they drove the whole platform to 47.4 million concurrent users, beating the previous platform record of 32.69 million set in July 2025.[2]

That single day mattered because it showed Roblox was no longer just a collection of mid-size games. Two experiences were now pulling more players at once than almost any game in history had ever managed alone.

The two games behind the numbers

Steal a Brainrot released on May 16, 2025. It was built by DoBig Studios, also known as SpyderSammy.[2] The game is simple on the surface. A conveyor belt carries Brainrot characters past your base. You buy them with in-game currency, they generate passive income, and you can steal other players' Brainrots to speed up your own progress. A base shield button blocks theft attempts, and a store sells traps and gear.[2]

Grow a Garden is a farming sim. You plant seeds, tend crops, and turn in harvests during rotating events. It held the single-game concurrency crown for months and still leads on total visits.

The numbers tell the story. Grow a Garden has racked up about 32.2 billion lifetime visits. Steal a Brainrot is close behind at roughly 30.1 billion, despite launching a year later.[1] On average, players spend about a third of their time in Steal a Brainrot compared to Grow a Garden, according to Outlook Respawn.[1] So Grow a Garden wins on total audience, while Steal a Brainrot wins on how hard it hooks the people who show up.

Breaking the competition

Steal a Brainrot did not just beat Roblox records. It passed Fortnite's all-time peak of 15.3 million concurrent players, which dated back to late 2020, and Steam's PUBG: Battlegrounds at 3.2 million from 2018.[1]

Then something unusual happened. In July 2025, Epic Games officially licensed a Fortnite Creative version of the game under the title Steal the Brainrot.[1][2] It reached 400,000 concurrent users, breaking the previous Creative island record of 235,000 set by Super Red vs Blue in May 2025.[2] On September 13 it hit 500,000 concurrent users and temporarily surpassed Fortnite Battle Royale itself. Epic CEO Tim Sweeney celebrated the result with a series of retweets.[2]

A meme-born Roblox idle game had officially crossed over into the biggest battle royale on the market.

The record keeps moving

On September 13, 2025, Steal a Brainrot ran its Extinct Event and peaked at 24 million concurrent players, passing Grow a Garden's mark.[2] In October 2025 it climbed higher still. Wikipedia lists the October peak at 25.4 million.[2] Outlook Respawn reported 25.2 million in its October 10 coverage.[1] The small gap comes from when and how the two sources measured the peak, but both readings put the game above Fortnite's old record by roughly 10 million players.

Concerts, lawsuits, and a movie

The momentum moved past player counts. In January 2026, Steal a Brainrot hosted a virtual concert where Bruno Mars performed "I Just Might" and "Locked Out of Heaven." The event drew a peak of 12.8 million concurrent players and 10 million livestream watchers, and players got exclusive items and Brainrots.[2]

There were legal bumps too. In early September 2025, SpyderSammy removed the Tung Tung Tung Sahur character after a licensing dispute with creator Noxa and brand agency Mememtum Lab. The character returned on November 29, 2025.[2] In October 2025, Spyder Games sued the maker of an unlicensed copy called Stealing Brainrots in Fortnite Creative.[2]

A film adaptation is now in development, produced by Story Kitchen in partnership with DoBig Studios.[2]

What Roblox itself reported

Roblox's own numbers back up the buzz. In its Q2 2025 financial results, the company reported average daily active users of 111.8 million, up 41 percent from 79.3 million in Q2 2024.[3] Hours engaged reached 27.4 billion, up 58 percent year over year. Revenue came in at 1,080.7 million dollars, up 21 percent, with bookings of 1,437.6 million dollars, up 51 percent.[3]

CEO David Baszucki pointed to "the emergence of several viral experiences" as the engine of that growth.[3]
