- Roblox is on PC (Windows and Mac), iOS, Android, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and Meta Quest. Your account, inventory, and friends carry across all of them.
- PS5 got a native app on April 14, 2026. The PS4 app stopped working on PS5 on June 29, 2026, so PS5 players had to switch.
- There is no Nintendo Switch version, and nobody has announced one.
- PlayStation launched Roblox worldwide on October 10, 2023. Xbox had it from January 26, 2016.
- Roblox on Meta Quest supports the Quest 2, Quest Pro, and Quest 3. The Quest 1 is not supported.
The official download page lists eight storefronts: Mac, App Store, Google Play, PlayStation, Xbox, Meta Quest, Microsoft Store, and Amazon. Here is what each one actually is.
- Windows PC: the original and still the most flexible version. It is the only way to run Roblox Studio, the free tool used to build and publish games. If you want to create anything, this is where you do it.
- Mac: supported through a separate Mac client. Studio is available here as well.
- iOS and Android: touch controls, and the version most players worldwide actually use.
- Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S: the console version, listed on the Xbox Store as a free download that supports both generations.
- PS4 and PS5: the console version on PlayStation. PS5 now has its own native app rather than running the PS4 build.
- Meta Quest: a virtual reality version that runs on the headset itself. It supports Quest 2, Quest Pro, and Quest 3.
- Microsoft Store and Amazon: the Windows desktop distribution channels, not separate versions of the game.
Roblox came to PlayStation in October 2023, but for years the PS5 simply ran the PS4 version through backwards compatibility. That changed on April 14, 2026, when Roblox shipped a native PS5 app.
Roblox describes the native app as smoother and more responsive, with load times up to 30 percent faster. It also takes advantage of the DualSense controller's haptics. If you are on a PS5, this is the version you want, and the PlayStation Store page now lists both a PS5 and a PS4 edition.
There is a catch that caught players off guard. The PS4 app was announced as unsupported on PS5 starting June 29, 2026. A notice now tells PS5 owners who launch the old version to install the new one, because Roblox for PS4 stops working on PS5 from that date. If you ignored that prompt, the fix is to search the PlayStation Store for Roblox and install the PS5 edition instead.
How to Move From the PS4 App to the Native PS5 App
If you are on a PS5 and still on the old build, this takes about two minutes.
- Open the PlayStation Store on your PS5 and search for Roblox.
- Pick the PS5 edition. The store page lists both a PS5 and a PS4 version, so make sure you are on the PS5 one.
- Download and install it. It is free, and you do not pay anything for the upgrade.
- Sign in with your existing Roblox account. Your avatar, inventory, friends, and Robux balance are all still there, because they live on your account and not on the console.
How the Console Hardware Compares
Roblox Wiki documents a real gap between the older and newer consoles, and it is worth knowing before you blame your internet.
- PS4: large games run around 30 FPS at maximum graphics quality, with smaller games closer to 60 FPS.
- PS5: nearly every game runs at up to 60 FPS even at max quality, with faster load times.
- Xbox One: the wiki records huge experiences running at 15 to 30 FPS at graphics quality 10, while small experiences reach 60 FPS.
- Xbox Series X|S: every experience runs at 60 FPS even at max quality, with faster loading.
Playing With Friends on Different Devices
Roblox is cross-platform, so you can join the same game and the same server from a PC while a friend plays on a phone or a console. The Xbox Store listing advertises cross-platform multiplayer and co-op directly.
A few honest limits are worth naming:
- Not every game plays well with a controller. Fast paced melee and shooting games are the usual offenders, because a keyboard and mouse have more keys to work with.
- Voice chat is available only for age-verified users, and the Xbox page lists it that way.
- Text chat is rolling out across platforms. Roblox announced it for Xbox in March 2025, and the PlayStation version got the same rollout that month. If text chat is missing in your game, the game itself has to opt in through Roblox's chat systems.
- A few games remain platform exclusive by choice of their developers. That is a decision the developer makes, not a Roblox platform limit.
Roblox runs on Meta Quest headsets. According to Roblox's own support article, the supported headsets are the Quest 2, Quest Pro, and Quest 3, and the Quest 1 is explicitly not supported. You need Meta Quest software v57 or higher.
Setup is a little different from the other platforms. You install Roblox from the Quest Store, launch it, and then sign in to your existing account using Quick Log In on a computer or phone. Roblox does not support creating an account or typing a password on the headset itself yet. Buying Robux on Quest is possible, and refunds go through Meta's own policy rather than Roblox's.
Roblox also keeps supporting PC VR, where you connect a headset to a computer. Any experience that has been published for VR is available in the Quest version, and Roblox says more than 50,000 experiences are available in VR.
What Is Not on Roblox
Nintendo Switch. Roblox has never been on the Switch, and there is no announced version. A March 2026 explainer states plainly that Roblox is not available on Nintendo Switch as of 2026, and that Xbox is the only console offering native support at the time it was written. That is now out of date on the PlayStation side, but the Switch part still holds: no app, no announcement.
Linux. Roblox has no official Linux client. Players use third-party launchers, which is a workaround rather than support, and I would not treat it as a real platform.
Chromebook and web browser. The standard browser player is being rebuilt under the project Roblox calls Everywhere, announced at RDC 2026 on September 11. Chrome support is targeted for the end of 2026, with more browsers later. Until that ships, the app is still required on PC and Mac.
