- Roblox removed the four-digit PIN from Account Settings. A family-safety guide verified on 27 September 2026 states there is no four-digit PIN in Account Settings any more, and Roblox's current documentation describes only linked parent accounts and Parent mode.Reverbico guide, verified 27 September 2026
- The old support article that explained Parent PIN no longer resolves at its original address. It returns a "page doesn't exist" error, which is the simplest way to confirm the change yourself.Roblox Support, Parent PIN General Information
- If a parent does not want to make an account, the replacement is Parent mode on the child's device. It creates a 6-digit PIN so later requests can be approved without verifying age again.Roblox Support, Parental Controls FAQ
- A linked parent account needs the parent to be age checked as 18 or older, and it unlocks managing settings from your own device plus email alerts about your child's activity.Roblox Support, How to Link Your Account
- Control moves from parent to child as the account ages. At 13 the child manages their own screen time and blocking, spending limits stop applying, and by 16 the parent only sees notifications and activity updates.Roblox Support, Parental Controls Overview
Search "Roblox account PIN" or "Roblox parent PIN" and you land on guides written before the change. They send you to Account Settings, tell you to enable a four-digit PIN, and describe it as the way to lock down a child's account. That path is not there any more.
Roblox now splits the job in two. A parent either links their own adult account to the child's, which needs an age check and gives you a dashboard on your own device, or uses Parent mode directly on the child's device, which needs no account at all and uses a 6-digit PIN. Neither one is the old Account PIN, and neither lives in the place the old guides point to.Roblox Support, Parental Controls FAQ
The PIN That No Longer Exists
The Account PIN used to be a four-digit code a parent set inside Account Settings. It sat in front of sensitive changes so a kid who borrowed a logged-in device could not quietly alter the account.
Roblox has removed it. A family-safety guide checked against Roblox's own support documentation states that there is no four-digit PIN in Account Settings any more and that any guide telling you to set one is out of date.Reverbico, Roblox Parental Controls in 2026 The support article that used to explain Parent PIN now returns a "the page you were looking for doesn't exist" message rather than the old instructions.Roblox Support, Parent PIN General Information Roblox's current parental controls documentation describes only the two replacement routes and never mentions a PIN to set in Account Settings.Roblox Support, Parental Controls Overview
Parent Mode and the 6-Digit PIN
Parent mode is the option for parents who do not want their own Roblox account. It runs on the child's device, so the child asks and the parent approves in person.
The flow, from Roblox's own instructions:Roblox Support, How to Link Your Account
- Your child makes a request and selects Ask in Person, then hands you the device.
- You select Continue as a parent.
- You review the request and select Continue, which confirms you are the parent or legal guardian and accepts the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
- You choose how to prove you are an adult: facial age check with the camera, a credit card, or a government ID. Roblox says a credit card shows a temporary hold and is not charged.
- Roblox deletes your personal information after processing.
- You review the child's birthday, and can edit it if it is wrong, because that birthday decides what content they see.
- You create a 6-digit PIN. Later requests can be approved with that PIN instead of verifying your age again.
- You select Close parent mode to hand the device back, or Send me an email to set up a linked parent account instead.
The Linked Parent Account
The linked parent account is your own adult Roblox account attached to your child's. It is the more powerful option, and it is the one Roblox steers most parents toward.
To create one you enter your birthday and verify your age with a government-issued ID or a credit card. Roblox's overview page describes the same step as verifying through facial age estimation or a government-issued ID or credit card.Roblox Support, Parental Controls FAQ In most regions, parents of children under 18 can link, and you must be age checked as 18 or older to do it.Roblox Support, Parental Controls FAQ
What the link buys you beyond Parent mode is the difference worth knowing. You can manage settings from your own device at any time instead of asking for the child's device. You get emails about activity, including spending notifications. And you find out when your child starts managing a setting on their own as they get older.Roblox Support, Parental Controls FAQ
To link from the child's side:Roblox Support, How to Link Your Account
- Go to Settings. On desktop select the gear icon at the top right. On mobile select More at the bottom right, then Settings.
- Select Parental controls, then Add parent.
- Follow the onscreen steps to verify your age with a government-issued ID or a credit card. The page refreshes once verification passes.
- Select Agree to link to your child's account.
What Parents Can Manage at Each Age
Roblox's own account-age page describes a gradual handover, and the shape of it is more useful than any single toggle.Roblox Support, What happens as my child or teen gets older
- Ages 5 to 8, Roblox Kids: access is limited to games with a Minimal or Mild rating that passed Roblox's three-step selection process. For age-checked users, all communication is off by default, and a child needs parental permission for any chat feature. The app shows a blue background to mark the account type.
- Ages 9 to 12, Roblox Select: at 9 they can reach Moderate games. Parents can control content maturity level, sensitive games, blocked games, allowed games, viewing friends and blocking users, screen time limits, chat settings, spending notifications and limits, the Robux balance, visibility and private servers, and inventory visibility.
- Ages 13 to 15, Roblox Select: at 13 the child starts managing their own privacy settings, including account information like email and phone, access to voice chat and Party chat after an age check unless a parent restricts it, and ads preferences. Spending limits no longer apply. The child directly manages screen time limits and blocking users. Parents keep direct chat settings, allowing and blocking specific games, and adding Robux.
- Ages 16 to 17, Roblox: after an age check the teen can play Content May Vary games and 16 plus content. Roblox's overview page states that for teens 16 and older, Settings you manage only shows Notifications, Spending notifications, and Activity updates.
Monthly Spending Limits
Spending limits need a linked parent account with parent privileges. The path is specific enough to write down:Roblox Support, Monthly Spending Limits
- Log into your account with parent privileges.
- Go to Settings.
- Go to Parental controls.
- Scroll down to Settings you manage.
- Select Spending restrictions.
- Select Monthly spending limit.
- Enter the desired monthly limit.
- Select Update.
Unlinking, and What You Lose
You can detach a parent account. Go to Settings, then Parental controls, select the child, select the pencil icon in the top right, and choose Unlink accounts.Roblox Support, Parental Controls FAQ
Read the consequence list before you do it. Roblox states that after unlinking you can no longer provide permission for actions on Roblox, control the child's privacy settings, set screen time or spending limits, view their Robux balance, or add Robux to their account.Roblox Support, Parental Controls FAQ
FAQ
Why can't I find the Account PIN setting any more?
Roblox removed it. The support article that used to explain Parent PIN now returns a not-found page, and the current parental controls documentation describes only linked parent accounts and Parent mode.Roblox Support, Parent PIN General Information
What replaced the Parent PIN?
Two things, depending on your situation. A linked parent account with parent privileges, which needs an age-checked adult account, or Parent mode on the child's device, which needs no account and uses a 6-digit PIN.Roblox Support, Parental Controls Overview
Do I need my own Roblox account to control my child's settings?
Not always. Parent mode lets you approve requests and manage most settings on your child's device without an account of your own. A linked parent account adds managing from your own device, email alerts about activity, and knowing when your child starts managing a setting themselves.Roblox Support, Parental Controls FAQ
What happens when my child turns 13?
The child starts managing their own privacy settings, and Roblox lists account information such as email and phone, access to voice chat and Party chat after an age check unless a parent restricts it, and ads preferences. Spending limits stop applying, and the child directly manages screen time limits and blocking users. Parental visibility and a few controls, like direct chat settings and allowing or blocking games, remain.Roblox Support, What happens as my child or teen gets older
Does a monthly spending limit block gift card redemptions?
No. Roblox states monthly spending limits do not impact gift card redemptions and may not apply on certain console devices, so console spending needs a limit set on the device itself.Roblox Support, Monthly Spending Limits
Can I use Parent mode if I already linked my account?
Not right now. Parent mode is only for children who do not have a linked parent account. If yours is linked, manage the settings from your own device under Settings, then Parental Controls.Roblox Support, Parental Controls FAQ
