- item asylum is a Roblox randomizer fighting game by Jean's Bizarre Community. Every respawn hands you three random weapons, a melee, a ranged and a miscellaneous item, and you fight with whatever you get.
- You die at 0 HP or by getting knocked out of the map, then respawn after 5 seconds with a fresh set. Rounds run about 7 minutes and the lobby votes on one of three maps, each tied to a gamemode.
- Points from each round buy emotes and chat tags. Joining the group adds a 0.5x point multiplier that stacks with the 2x points gamepass, and the base multiplier is 2.0x on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- The current patch is v2.3.0, the September 9, 2026 anniversary update, which added new status effects, five new items, three reworked items, three new maps and one returning map.
- Roblox rates the game Mild and lists 596.9M+ visits. The settings menu has a Photosensitive Mode toggle, worth knowing since the game's own description opens with a flashing lights and loud noises warning.
item asylum is a PvP randomizer released on September 8, 2020 and developed by Jean's Bizarre Community. It was inspired by an earlier Roblox randomizer called Infinite Welfare. The official wiki says almost every item in the game is either a meme or a reference to something else. You fight with pop culture rather than with a curated weapon list.
Roblox lists it as Action, filed under Battlegrounds and Fighting, with a server size of 30 and a Mild maturity rating broken into Blood (Heavy/Unrealistic), Fear (Occasional/Mild) and Violence (Repeated/Mild). At the time of writing the page shows 1,180,662 favorites, 596.9M+ visits and an updated date of October 24, 2026.
The game also carries a photo warning. The official description opens with "WARNING: THIS GAME CONTAINS FLASHING LIGHTS AND LOUD NOISES", so the Photosensitive Mode toggle in settings is not decoration.
The core loop: three random items
Everything comes down to one mechanic. Each respawn gives you three items: a melee in the first slot, a ranged item in the second, and a miscellaneous item with some special function in the third. You cannot pick them in most modes.
You die when your HP hits zero or when you get knocked out of the map. After a 5 second wait you respawn with a new random set. Certain gamemodes change that behaviour, which is what the KIT and XMAS modes are for.
The item pool is large and deliberately unserious. A few examples from the official wiki item list:
- air attacks with air and deals 25 damage per hit.
- basic hatchet, a Lumber Tycoon 2 reference, has decent damage with a slow firerate and can be upgraded through its abilities.
- banhammer, a reference to the Roblox Ban Hammer gear, is a close range attack with a smash ability that deals damage in a wide area.
- allusions, a Dark Souls III reference, has a lunging three hit combo whose final hit ragdolls opponents.
- big rock, a Deepwoken reference, drains health while held but raises your maximum health.
The wiki's gamemode page opens by saying ten gamemodes are currently available, then lists the eleven below plus VIP, which it marks as a work in progress. That is a small inconsistency on the page itself.
| Gamemode | How it plays | Win condition |
| FFA (Free For All) | Every player for themselves. The mode the game launched with. | Survive the round. |
| TDM (Team Deathmatch) | Players split into teams and cannot hurt teammates. | Outscore the opposing team. |
| BOSS | Everyone works together against powerful bosses. | Defeat the boss. |
| GG (Gun Game) | Everyone spawns with the same items, which change after a kill. | After 16 kills you get a golden melee weapon and must get a kill with it. |
| ZS (Zombie Survival) | Survivors against Zombies. | Survivors last until the timer ends. Zombies infect everyone first. |
| MU (Murder) | Four teams: Innocent, Sheriff, Murderer and Jester. | Each role has its own goal, and the Jester has to get the Sheriff to shoot them. |
| JGN (Juggernaut) | One player gets a large health pool and a chosen set of weapons and abilities. | The Juggernaut eliminates everyone in time, or the players take them down. |
| TC (Tower Control) | Attackers against Defenders over statues, with selectable classes. | Attackers secure the statues. Defenders stop them. |
| KIT | Three preset item choices, with a new selection on respawn. | Outlast the other players. |
| ELIM (Elimination) | Everyone spawns with 3 lives. Every kill grants +15 max HP. | When the timer ends, players drop to one life and gain max HP based on lives held. A safe zone then opens and anyone outside it takes damage. |
| XMAS (Christmas) | No items at spawn. You open gifts that appear around the map. | Red gifts give melee items, yellow gifts give ranged items, blue gifts give misc items. |
| VIP | Marked as a work in progress. Two players become juggernauts, each with their own team. | Defeat the other juggernaut. |
One more detail from the Areas page. The acronym before a map's name sets the mode, so tdm_poolparty means Team Deathmatch on poolparty. Read the prefix and you know what you are voting for.
Status effects that decide rounds
| Effect | What it does | Notes |
| Fire | Drains 4 health per second, applied as 1 health every 0.25 seconds. | sun on a stick deals critical damage to anything on fire. |
| Hitstun | Brief slowdown that stops you starting a new attack. | It does not cancel an attack animation already running. |
| Knockback | Pushes you, often toward the edge of the map. | The tank and leviathan mutations in ZS grant immunity, as does being the Juggernaut. |
| Curse and Poison | The two damage over time effects. | These are the only effects that stack. Stacked effects expire one at a time, not all together. |
| Shock | An effect that reaches targets most crowd control misses. | Unlike knockback or ragdoll, shock can affect Juggernauts and tanks. |
| Blessed | Grants immunity to certain status effects. | Added in v2.3.0. |
| Green | Grants a green highlight. | Added in v2.3.0. |
Points, shop and customization
Points are the currency. You earn them after each round, with the payout based on the gamemode objective, and you spend them in the in-game shop on new emotes and chat tags. The menu opens with M or by clicking the IA icon next to the chat icon, and it has three tabs.
Profile holds your inventory of emotes and tags plus counters for kills and total points earned. Shop sells emotes and tags from two tabs, in front of a Shopkeeper Dummy. Settings is worth opening before you play.
The settings toggles split into four groups. Gameplay covers Hitmarkers, Hitbox Debug, Accumulative Damage Labels, Shiftlock Angle, Camera follow, Server Ghost, Never Juggernaut and Mobile Crosshair. Visual covers Visible Nametags, Photosensitive Mode, Blood Pools and Screen Shake. Audio covers Area Music, Item Music, Emote Music and Death Sounds. Gamepass covers Old Weapon Models plus the hit, kill and killstreak end sounds, each with pitch and volume sliders.
On top of the shop sit two point multipliers. Joining the Jean's Bizarre Community group adds a 0.5x additional point multiplier, which the official description says stacks with the 2x points gamepass. The base multiplier is 2.0x every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Practical tips for your first rounds
- Read the map prefix before you vote. tdm_poolparty means Team Deathmatch on poolparty, so the prefix tells you exactly what you are signing up for.
- Learn where the fall boundaries are. You can die by being knocked out of the map as well as by losing HP, and the 5 second respawn is long enough to check where the edge is.
- Watch the status bar, not just the health bar. It shows your walk speed, jump power, defense and damage multiplier, and items like big rock change those numbers while held.
- In ELIM, aggression pays. Every kill grants +15 max HP, so pushing early raises the ceiling for the sudden death phase.
- In GG, count your kills. You need 16 to reach the golden melee weapon, and that golden weapon is the only way to win.
- Set Never Juggernaut in settings if you would rather not be picked as the Juggernaut in JGN rounds.
There are two live wikis and they do not match. itemasylum.wiki is a Miraheze wiki that describes itself as the official wiki for the experience. It was founded on May 1, 2024 and lists 1,217 articles, 10,264 files, 144,617 edits and 28 editors. Its sidebar shows the latest version as v2.3.0, with the in-game version at v2.5.1, and its changelog page carries the full v2.3.0 entry.
The Fandom wiki describes itself as an unofficial, community-run wiki. It was founded on September 7, 2021 and lists 1,152 articles, 17,220 files, 104,491 edits and 33 active users, and its changelog marker still reads v2.1.6.
The history explains the split. The wiki news on the Miraheze page records that on February 18 and 19, 2025 the Fandom content was imported into the Miraheze wiki in what the page calls "The Great Migration". Then on October 29, 2025, jeannecca submitted a DMCA takedown request in an attempt to close the Fandom wiki permanently, and on November 6, 2025 FANDOM rejected that request. The Miraheze wiki was officially announced in JBC's Discord server on January 3, 2026, and it joined the Independent Roblox Wiki Alliance on July 18, 2026.
For current patch numbers, itemasylum.wiki is the one to trust. Its own changelog warns that because of how Roblox development works, the list may never be fully up to date. The Fandom change log remains a separate record of the same game.
FAQ
Is item asylum free to play?
The core loop costs nothing. The Roblox page has a Store tab and the settings menu carries a Gamepass section, but you can play and earn points without buying anything.
Why do I keep getting different items?
Because the loadout is random on every respawn. Only two modes change that. KIT gives you a choice of three preset item sets and a new selection when you respawn. XMAS gives you nothing at all and you collect items from gifts that spawn around the map.
How long is a round?
About 7 minutes, according to the wiki. After the round ends a summary screen shows your kills, other statistics and your rank, then you return to the lobby to vote on the next map.
How does the point multiplier work?
Three things stack. Joining the group adds a 0.5x additional multiplier, the 2x points gamepass adds another, and the base multiplier is 2.0x every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The official description says the group bonus stacks with the gamepass.
Is item asylum safe for younger players?
Roblox gives it a Mild rating, with Blood (Heavy/Unrealistic), Fear (Occasional/Mild) and Violence (Repeated/Mild). The bigger practical concern is the flashing effects, since the game's own description leads with a flashing lights and loud noises warning and the settings menu includes Photosensitive Mode.
Why do the two wikis show different versions?
They are separate projects. The Miraheze wiki, which describes itself as official, is at v2.3.0 with the in-game version at v2.5.1. The Fandom wiki is an older community project whose changelog marker still reads v2.1.6.
