Roblox BedWars Beginner Guide (October 2026): How to Play, Team Sizes, Kits, and Winning Your First Match
Quick Summary

  • The game has passed 11.7 billion visits, holds about 4.65 million favorites, and sits at an 82% rating, with roughly 22,000 players online at the time of writing.[1][2]
  • Classic matches come in Squads (4 teams of 4) and Doubles (8 teams of 2), both at 16 players, and you join them from the lobby NPC or the Play menu.[5]
  • Kits are the character layer. There are roughly 113 to collect, most costing 399 Robux or 10,000 BedCoins, and three or four of them are free every week.[4]
  • Halloween Event Part 2 opens Friday, October 23 at 6:00 PM with a new kit and a battle pass, and Part 3 follows on October 30 with two returning kits.[1]
What BedWars Is and Why It Is Still Everywhere

BedWars takes the bed-defense idea from Minecraft minigames and turns it into a full Roblox battler. Every team spawns on its own island with a bed. Resources spawn at generators, you spend them in the shop, and the round ends when one team has no bed left and nobody standing.

Easy.gg created the game on May 27, 2021, and it has grown into one of the most played PvP experiences on the platform. Rolimon's records 11.79 billion visits and an all-time peak of 334,747 concurrent players on August 27, 2022, a number most Roblox games never get near.[2] Roblox's own page lists 4,645,418 favorites, a Minimal maturity label, and occasional mild violence.[1]

Average playtime works out to about 13 minutes per visit, which tells you the game is built around short repeatable rounds instead of long sessions.[2]

The developers keep a predictable schedule. New content lands every Friday at 3:00 PM PDT, which is 6:00 PM EDT, and limited events run in parallel. Halloween Event Part 1 is live now, Part 2 starts Friday, October 23 at 6:00 PM with a new kit and a battle pass, and Part 3 on October 30 brings back two older kits.[1] If you want to try a kit before you buy it, these free windows are the time to do it.

How a Match Actually Works

The rules fit in four lines, and the execution does not.[1]
  1. Press Play in the lobby to get placed into a match.
  2. Protect your bed. Once it is gone, you cannot respawn.
  3. Gather resources from generators and spend them on items and team upgrades.
  4. Destroy every enemy bed, then eliminate the players who can no longer respawn.
    [/list=1]

That last point is the whole strategy. A player with a bed is one fight away from being back. A player without one is one fight from being out. Teams that chase kills before breaking beds usually lose to teams that do the opposite, and the community wiki's advice is the same: break enemy beds before hunting kills.[3]

Deaths before your bed falls are cheap. After it falls they are permanent. That asymmetry is why the opening minutes decide most rounds.

Team Sizes, Modes, and How to Join

Classic is the core of the game. It covers Squads, Doubles, Solo, and a voice-chat-only Squads queue. You pick one by talking to the BedWars Classic NPC in the lobby or by choosing it from the Play menu. You can also run a custom match on the Squads, Doubles, or Solo maps when you want to play with a specific group.[5]
    ModeTeamsPlayersWin XP
    Squads4 teams of 416200 XP
    Doubles8 teams of 216400 XP
Party limits follow the mode. The maximum party size is 4 for Squads and the voice-chat-only queue, 2 for Doubles, and parties cannot be used for Solo at all.[5]

Beyond Classic, the game ships more than ten modes. The official description names Bed Wars, Lucky Block, SkyWars, and Infected among them, and there is a Creative mode where you can build your own games with optional scripting support.[1] Lucky Block has its own Squads and Doubles queues. It launched on October 8, 2021 and became permanent on November 5, 2021, and in Lucky Block Doubles ores do not spawn, so the economy comes from blocks instead.[7]

Server size is 40 players, and the wiki hub lists support for desktop, mobile, tablet, console, and VR.[1][3]

Resources: What Each Currency Is For

The economy runs on four currencies: iron, gold, diamonds, and emeralds. Prices across the shop are set in all four.[3]
    • Iron is the steady stream and the backbone of the shop. The wiki describes it as what you spend on gear, and it pays for the tools, blocks, and swords you buy every round.[3]
    • Diamonds go toward team upgrades, and you also need them to repair the Enchant Table before it can be used.[3]
    • Emeralds are the power spike. You spend them on Enchant Table rolls and on the strongest purchases in the shop.[3]
    • Gold sits in the middle of the ladder. The wiki lists it as one of the four shop currencies without breaking out what it buys, so treat it as you encounter it in the shop.[3]
The practical read is that iron keeps you alive and emeralds win the game. A team that starves on iron in the first minutes usually never sees the emerald tier.

    Kits: The Character Layer

Kits are characters that each bring an ability, a class role, and often exclusive shop items.[3] They define your playstyle far more than any weapon purchase, and the class balance of a team usually matters more than any single pick.[3]
    Kit sourcePrice
Standard kits399 Robux or 10,000 BedCoins
Recently added kits479 Robux or 12,000 BedCoins
Former battle pass kits599 Robux or 25,000 BedCoins
Not everything costs money. You get a starter kit for joining the game for the first time, and other kits unlock from player level, bundles, or past battle passes. A small number can also drop from Lucky Crates.[4]

Every week three kits are free to use, and that rises to four once you hit player level 20. The rotation cycles randomly through the whole catalog. The wiki's listed free rotation is Raven, Grim Reaper, Crypt, and Arachne, with Arachne gated behind player level 20, and the rotation refreshes on October 23, 2026 at 3:00 PM PST.[4]

Kit skins let you keep your own avatar while using a kit's abilities, but Crocowolf, Eldertree, Xu'rot, and Void Knight change physically when they use theirs and cannot be swapped out.[4]

    Enchantments

Repair the Enchant Table with diamonds, then spend emeralds to roll an effect. The wiki lists seven enchantments, and the effects run from burn and chain lightning to finishers, healing, and health scaling. Your roll lasts until you die or replace it, so treat a good one like gear you do not want to lose.[3]

    Controls to Learn First

Hotkeys are customizable in the settings menu.[1]
    • Shift: sprint
    • E: open inventory
    • H: drop an item
    • G: ping
    • TAB: open the scoreboard
    • Ctrl: lock the camera
    • T: open the emote wheel
    • F1: toggle picture mode
Mobile players get customizable button position and sizing, so the control layout is adjustable on every platform the game supports.[1][3]

    A Beginner Order of Operations
    1. Pick a mode and learn its shape first. Doubles puts 8 teams of 2 into a 16-player match, so you have a partner to cover the bed with.[5]
    2. Spend your first iron on a pickaxe. The wiki's advice is blunt: most defenses fall to the right tool faster than to any sword.[3]
    3. Build a layered bed defense before you buy upgrades. Mixed materials with different break tools beat one thick wall of a single block.[3]
    4. Farm iron constantly. A steady stream of tools, blocks, and swords matters more than an early emerald splurge.[3]
    5. Bridge with cheap blocks and fight on your own bridges, where you control the geometry and the fall.[3]
    6. Check the weekly kit rotation. Free kit weeks are the cheapest way to learn what to buy before you spend anything.[3]

      FAQ

      Is BedWars free to play?
Yes. The game is free, and the wiki hub lists the age requirement as All Ages.[3] Kits are optional purchases on top of that. Most standard kits cost 399 Robux or 10,000 BedCoins.[4]

How many kits are in BedWars?
The two references I checked disagree, and both are worth knowing. The BedWars Wiki counts 113 kits, or 114 if you include the empty slot.[4] The Bloxodes wiki hub puts the number at 115, which reflects kits added since the wiki's last full recount.[3] Either way you are looking at a roster well over a hundred.

What happens when your bed is destroyed?
You stop respawning. The official how-to-play text is direct about it: protect your bed, because once it is gone you can no longer respawn.[1]

Which kit should I buy first?
Spend a few free rotation weeks before you buy anything. Roblox Den's tier list, published October 8, 2026 and based on a mix of regular and ranked play, puts Adetunde, Aery, Alchemist, Ares, Baker, Bezkat, Caitlyn, Eldertree, Fisherman, Hannah, Hephaestus, Lassy, Milo, Miner, Nazar, Pirate Davey, Pyro, Sigrid, Silas, Star Collector Stella, Terra, Uma, Umbra, Void Knight, Void Regent, Whim, Whisper, Zeno, and Zola in its top tier.[6] If you want one purchase, the same list marks Miner and Fisherman as economy kits, which is the most forgiving role to learn in a new game.[6]

      Does BedWars have voice chat?
Roblox's page lists voice chat as not supported for this experience.[1] The Classic mode list does include a Voice Chat Only (Squads) queue, so check the lobby for how your server is set up.[5]

Is BedWars appropriate for younger players?
Roblox labels the experience Minimal maturity with occasional mild violence, and the wiki hub lists the age requirement as All Ages.[1][3] It is one of the milder competitive games on the platform, but the combat is still real PvP.
